Iām so excited to announce that we are currently taking submissions for our new zine: āThe Asian Cyborg and Other Othered Bodiesā! This zine will explore the themes of technology, sci-fi, race, and queerness. Who are the othered bodies in SF? What does it mean to be āotheredā as in to be queer? What are the queer futures of the past? What are the queer futures being imagined for us now? And is queerness inherently tied to the bodily experience?
We are accepting art and literary submissions from all around the world, but any text submissions not in English must be accompanied by an English translation. Any kind of submission is eligible: illustrations, paintings, comics, photography, poetry, prose, essays, even memes. Deadline for submissions is 08/31 at 11:59
PM EST. Google form link in bio.
All contributors will receive a free copy of the zine (either digital or physical) when completed as well as a small honorarium ($ compensation for their submission). Note that submitting an application is not guaranteed entry into the zine. We will notify you if your piece was selected via email.
So grateful and excited to have to the guest artists & writers Iāve reached out to join me in the creation of this zine ā please check them out! (second slide)
NOTE: This zine focuses on race and queernessā relationship to the human body and technology. Therefore, we are not at this time accepting submissions from any persons who do not belong to either group of marginalized identity.
Kikimora is a delightful little shit, I love em! People theorize that she’s Bellos’ version of Hooty, but it’s be great if she was more of a King parallel. Just a funny little demon that he keeps around just because.
Emperor Bellos is his own Hooty. Think about it- ties to one location, and seems to be built into the walls.

Combining BOTH of these separate asks because they fit and connect so well into one another;
…You know. This… could ACTUALLY make more sense!
They’re both small, little gremlin people with sassiness, but otherwise we don’t see any power from them as of the moment? Of course Kikimora hasn’t had the need to flex any power –if she HAS any- but alas… And being quippy with Lilith? Just as King and Eda can sometimes be???
I have to wonder if Hooty isn’t so much the lobotomized remains of the Owl Deity, but like… a living fixture that Eda created and attached to the Owl House, with Hooty becoming one with it in a symbiotic relationship! Just like Belos, attached to the heart, and thus the Boiling Isles; Able to see what happens in the castle because he’s basically connected himself to it?! The parallels of Hooty having been made to be a defender and not being a parasite, whereas Belos has grafted himself onto the Titan and is using its power, and/or trying to resurrect it with himself as a medium!
- A general who is deaf and signs ASL. Not only does she get by even without her signer, but is a competent military tactician, tells jokes/ has a sense of humor. Plus we see Callum sign to her– a family member who learned to sign (at least a bit) in order to communicate with her.
- A blind sea captain with narcolepsy who is shown to be a fully capable sailor despite his disabilities. There’s no gag about him being bad because of his blindness or anything– he has is a good captain and has learned to sail with his disabilities.
- Ava. You know, the amputee wolf who they gave her leg back and then said “FUCK THAT, SHE’S STILL AN AMPUTEE AND A HAPPY, FULLY FUNCTIONAL DOG EVEN THOUGH SHE’S MISSING A LEG. SHE ONLY NEEDS A PRETEND LEG BECAUSE SOCIETY UNDERESTIMATES HER IF THEY CAN SEE HER DISABILITY.”
I hate peoples who says “The dragon prince” and “She-Ra” and “The Avatar” and other children’s shows are unimportant or useless or not good enough.
Because my little sister of seven said when she was around three or four that “boys are lucky, it sucks to be a girl, I don’t want to be a girl, I Hate this world”
She was three or four, it broke my heart.
But now when she watches The dragon prince she sees Amaya and Rayla, she sees that girls can be important too. (She even named her teddy unicorn Amaya)
When she watches She-Ra she sees herself in the girls, her and her friend played Adora and Glimmer together. (She loved Flutterina, and she was so disappointed she turned out to be double trouble. But she did think Dt was funny.)
And when she watches Avatar I hear her say “Katara is cool, I wanna be like her” and I am happy. Because she has female characters that actually are important. And she doesn’t hate being a girl anymore.
And this is why I love those shows they show little girls all over the worlds that they matter and are important too.
They also teach kids that being deaf, blind, mute or “different” aren’t bad.
My heart broke when she said “boys are lucky, it sucks to be a girl, I don’t want to be a girl, I Hate this world” but now every time I see her watching those shows, playing with her friends being happy it heals a little bit. Because it might be a children’s show, a small step but it matters and they make the world a little better.
(They also shows boys that girls can be awesome too)
(I wrote this because I havnt slept in daaaays (it feels like) and cathched my sister watching tdp and smiling, and we started to talk and she said she loved Amaya and she was a cool fighter and then she asked if i could teach her to fight that way too.)
